Much needed 6th population and housing census on the direction of Supreme Court starts today after 19 years across the country including Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
The last census was conducted in 1998, which according to the Constitution has to be
carried out after every 10 years.
6th population and housing census was long due and was last attempted in 2011.

According to details, the team will collect information about head of the family and his
relations with the family head, academic qualification, profession, and the property in
which a family is residing.
All the information collected during census will be kept secret and no organization or
individual will be allowed access to this. A fine and imprisonment will be awarded to
those who provide wrong information to the census team.
